Restaurant Cafe van Puffelen is located on the Prinsengracht. In the middle of the Jordaan district, in the area around the characteristic ’Negen Straatjes’ (nine little streets): we couldn’t have had a better location. Once just a small and authentic Amsterdam ‘bruin cafe’ (brown bar), but after a couple of expansions van Puffelen has become a hotspot in the city and a place that every local knows. Therefore, Van Puffelen is visited by a variety of people: from locals to students and from tourists to families.

Restaurant
Divided over two monumental canal houses, in Van Puffelen you can enjoy a relaxed and tasteful dinner in the restaurant and have a drink in the cosy bar. The restaurant has a stylish but intimate atmosphere and the menu offers a variety of ‘honest’ dishes: fish, meat, vegetarian and optional vegan dishes. The kitchen serves a wide range international inspired cuisine which is carefully put together by our head-chef Tom Jaasma who creates the dishes personally with his team. The wine list is just as international and diverse. Van Puffelen is also very suitable to welcome large groups for a special three course dinner, a buffet or a delicious lunch.

Bar
The cafe is the place where it all started in the eighties: a ‘bruine kroeg’ (brown pub) with a few tables. The bar still breathes this atmosphere of a genuine Amsterdam pub. You can choose from a wide selection of draft beers.

Van Puffelen is the place for an evening with beers and friends, to have lunch on the canal side terrace during a sunny summer day, or to have drinks with, of course, typical Dutch bitterballen. The bar is also thé best location in the center of Amsterdam to have a birthday party or a graduation party.

Restaurant Cafe van Puffelen is open for dinner and drinks daily and for lunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

When looking at our menu you will notice a choice between various ‘fair’ dishes, something for everyone. Fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, inspired by Italian/French cuisine but Van Puffelen also serves dishes with an Oriental touch.

In the centre of Amsterdam on the Prinsengracht canal you’ll find our authentic Dutch bar. Since 1983 Van Puffelen has been a place where the locals like to meet up for a drink and a chat. We’re open 7 days a week and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for lunch. If the weather is good our small but cozy terrace, near the canal, will provide you with sunlight most of the afternoon and evening!

Dinners en lunches

Restaurant Van Puffelen offers groups and companies a special three course menu starting at €39.50 per person. Having lunch with a large group is possible from €15 per person. And, in consultation, almost everything is possible. The group size can vary from 10 to 150 persons for a (three course) dinner or lunch, and even for more persons with a buffet. we also offer interesting beverage packages.

Business meetings

For coffee tables, meetings, presentations or business meetings in a beautiful, historical setting, Van Puffelen is the right place for you.

It is possible to reserve the entire cafe or even the entire restaurant for a private dinner, reception or (cocktail) party. Van Puffelen also offers a private room.

Restaurant Café Puffelen features a unique private room where we can arrange a private lunch, a reception with drinks and dinner parties for groups. The private room is located on the mezzanine of the monumental canal house and is ideal for group lunches, meetings, business dinners, and graduation receptions.
